Taylor and Dylan’s wedding ceremony was small, intimate and very special. Surrounded by close family and friends Taylor and Dylan said their “I Do’s” in the beautiful setting of Cook Park Orange NSW.
Bride’s Look
My look was very me. I don’t ever wear any full-length dresses so thought why should do something so not me and wear a full-length wedding dress on the day? Instead, I opted for a tea-length dress with a full circle skirt, and blush tule with dainty white polka dots. Very me.
I also had some of the dried flowers from my bouquet popped into the braid on my hair.
Keeping with tradition I had velvet navy blue shoes, an old necklace Dylan had gifted me when we first started dating (that I’ve worn every day since) and my something borrowed was a pearl bracelet that was made from the pearl necklace my Nana had worn on her wedding day. My Nana loved weddings and passed a long time ago so this was very special.
Groom’s Look
Dylan picked out his look himself which was very surprising as he hates shopping. He wore a navy and plaid patterned Jacket, RM WIlliams trousers and boots and a bow tie that matched the bone trousers.
Dylan loves wearing blue Flannels and they are an absolute staple in his wardrobe so the jacket was a bit on theme with this.
He had a buttonhole matching my bouquet and a secret hidden fishing hook pin underneath (very Dylan who loves to fish). He also arrived in his Akubra thinking it was going to be super hot and sunny and wanting to be sun-safe (ginger life).
Wedding Party
No wedding party – other than our family we only invited 4 friends to keep it small and intimate- they probably would have been the people we chose if we doing something bigger though.
The Theme or Wedding Decor
No real theme for the wedding however I suppose our colours were navy and blush.
The overall vibe of the wedding was casual- we were having such a small wedding there was no real need for formalities or anything too intense.
We told our guests to wear whatever they felt comfortable in and just to not stress too much about it.
The Ceremony
The ceremony is such a blur now! It went by so fast!
It was perfectly crafted and carried out by Tanya who let us personalise it as we liked.
Our favourite part was the vows – we had kept this secret from each other and both cried at how special they were hearing them. After 10 years of love and so many adventures, it was so daunting writing them down but they came out so special and were perfect for each other.
It was also really nice to have our mothers both sign our marriage certificate. That was really special and I think made them feel really loved.
The Brides View On The Importance Of A Good Celebrant
When we first got engaged we really didn’t know where to start or what the process was even like, and Tanya made the whole thing so easy!
Tanya let us personalise the whole ceremony and listened to our love story and the 10 years it took to get to marriage, she also helped with our vows and explained the process in easy terms.
Not to mention all the assistance leading up to the day including helping with where the ceremony should be to get the best lighting, photos etc.
I think without Tanya our wedding would have not nearly been as effortless, fun, beautiful or as easy!
The Bride’s Favourite Moment
The vows were so lovely and the rings during the ceremony – were very special!
My favourite moment however was after running around and taking photos with Brenton (which was also really fun) he finished up at the Union Bank with us and we got to be alone together and just chat for over 30mins that was really lovely and great quality time with just the 2 of us on the day!
Brides Thoughts On Unexpected Hiccups
One of the funniest moments from the day was after the ceremony when we were taking photos with Brenton we had planned to go to the Union Bank early to have a private first dance, cut the cake, and have some alone time before everyone arrived for dinner. When we got there though the servers said some of the guests had arrived already which was confusing… we got to our private room and Dylan’s best friend Jake was there having a beer super confused as to why we were there! We laughed and he ended up missing out on the communication because he had to drop off his car and didn’t know the others went for a drink elsewhere. Anyway very awkward and funny and he pretty much ran out of there once he realised!
Your Wedding Day Advice
Just chill – so many things are out of your control and that’s OK. The day will be whatever it is and by the end of it, you get to marry the person of your dreams so who cares about the small things?
Wedding planning is terribly unfun but a good celebrant and team of vendors can make a huge difference!
Just enjoy it!
