Hanna & Troy’s Dream Wedding at Borrodell Vineyard: A Love Story Come to Life

Hanna and Troy’s Borrodell Vineyard wedding was the perfect start to their marriage story. With family and friends gathered and the sun shining Hanna finally got to make her way down the aisle to her husband-to-be. After having to delay because of COVID like many couples, this moment felt very special to Hanna and Troy.

After exchanging thier personal “I do’s” Hanna and Troy celebrated with the wedding party as they made their way around Borrodell Vineyard. Photographer, Matthew Harper beautifully capturing the couple’s first moments together as husband and wife.

Hanna and Troy then joined family and friends in the wine cellar to party the night away enjoying the spectacular views and distant backdrop of Orange’s twinkling lights.

The following is some information Hanna has shared about her and Troy’s special wedding day.

The Brides Look

I wore a white dress with a lace bodice and bottom that fell beautifully to the floor with a simple mid-length veil. I wanted a dress that was not only gorgeous but also comfortable so I could enjoy my day/night.
I had white chunky heels for the ceremony but changed into white converse shoes for the reception.
My specially made denim jacket with “Mrs. Kenny 11.03.22” printed on the back that I popped on for the reception everyone loved.

The Groom’s Look

Troy wore a navy suit, white shirt, a red tie to match the bridesmaid dresses, and tan colour shoes and belt.
The groomsmen had white flowers in their buttonholes while Troy had red (my fave colour).
Troy wanted something classic that he knew all the boys would look good in and that would be comfortable to enjoy the night.

Wedding Party Fashion

The bridesmaids wore deep red dresses as this was my favourite colour.
Both dads wore flower pins on their suit jackets to match the groomsmen.
The groomsmen wore suits that matched Troy’s outfit.
The Father of the bride wore a pink and white Hawaiian shirt (my father always wears a Hawaiian shirt to any kind of party so it seemed fitting that he wear one to his daughter’s wedding).
While we were getting ready the bridesmaids wore matching PJ sets in different colours.
I also gave my bridesmaids each a pair of converse shoes so they could kick off their heels and enjoy their night without sore feet.

The Theme and Wedding Decor

We went with a rustic theme which included the colours of the bridal party plus greens and whites, As the venue was beautiful we wanted that to be the main attraction of the day/night so tried to keep our look something simple.
We wanted the feel of our wedding to be relaxed and fun so people could have a great time and feel comfortable.
Sarah from Bespoke Weddings did such an amazing job! I give her a general vibe that I wanted and she really made it happen.

The Ceremony

We loved our ceremony and the quirks that came with it. A bee managed to fly into the inside of my dress (fitting since the groom’s family are all beekeepers), the bridesmaids managed to shoo it out and the father of the groom picked it up and flicked it away…made for a good laugh at the ceremony.

We wanted our ceremony to be something simple. We wrote our own vows and kept them secret from each other until the day which was amazing! It was wonderful to hear Troy’s vows for the first time in this beautiful setting surrounded by our closest friends and family.

We had guests throw flower petals in the air as we walked back down with aisle as a married couple which made for such a great atmosphere

The Importance Of A Good Celebrant

When I first started planning my wedding I thought the celebrant only showed up on the day and did their things. I did not realise the amount of support the celebrant would provide during the planning of our wedding! It was such a help!

Due to COVID we had to postpone our wedding twice and Tanya was amazing in helping us keep motivated to continue planning the day that we wanted.

On the day, Tanya really helped calm my nerves by coming to see me before I walked down the aisle and letting me know that everything looked stunning and to take a breath and really enjoy this moment.

Tanya was also an amazing help when it came to writing my vows. I always struggle with putting my ideas down on paper. I knew what I wanted to say but couldn’t put it into words. I sent Tanya a set of dot points and Tanya came back with a starting point which I was able to build on from there

Tanya really went above and beyond for us as well. Tanya gave us a gift the day before our wedding which we really appreciated!! She also gave us a copy of our entire ceremony written up and laminated and bound together with a beautiful white bow. We were also given gorgeous cards which we used when we read our vows on the day (we were given these to keep).

Troy and I cannot speak highly enough of Tanya and all that she did for us!! She was such an important part of our day!! A great celebrant like Tanya can make the planning of a wedding a dream and can really make your big day that much easier and more memorable.

Personalising The Wedding

We had jars filled with honey for each guest as their favours on the day. The honey was from Troy’s family “Kenny’s honey” and was bottled from the groom’s family

The music played before the ceremony as guests were arriving was a compilation of the bride and groom’s favourite songs.

My denim jacket with “Mrs. Kenny 11.03.22” printed on the back.

The groomsmen and bridesmaids made up their own unique entrances to the reception (e.g. choreographed dances and throwing of roses). This made the guests laugh and really started off the reception on a fun and light-hearted note.

Troy and I played the “shoe game” as the band took a break at the reception. This was so much fun and had the guests laughing as we argued over the answers like an old married couple

Our guest book included a table set up for guests to take a polaroid picture and stick it into the book as they wrote a message. This was so fun to look back on the day after our wedding

The Brides Favourite Moment

I could not pick a favourite moment of the day. We had such an amazing day/night!!! The whole day/night was my favourite. From getting ready to our ceremony to the reception was all such a fun time!! Troy and I often say “can we do it again!! We had the best time!!”

Your Wedding Day Advice

Take a moment at the reception with your new husband to just take it all in. Troy and I stepped away from the party and stood back and just watched the reception for a couple of minutes and just spoke about how amazing everything has been so far. We took a moment to say how much we loved each other and to hug and kiss and really take in that moment.

I know everyone told me this prior to my wedding but this day will go by sooooooo fast!!!! Just be sure to take a moment to check in with yourself and to really soak up each moment

Unexpected Hiccups

After walking up the aisle and standing beside Troy my father-in-law told me I had a bee in my dress! My father-in-law, bridesmaids, celebrant, and Troy all worked to remove the bee from between the satin and tulle. Eventually, the unwanted guest was set free. Looking back at it, its a very funny and light-hearted part of our ceremony

COVID postponed our wedding twice which was heartbreaking at the time but we got through it and had a wonderful wedding day.
