Michelle & Scott’s Rose Garden Wedding

They say when you know, you know and Michelle and Scott never believed this until they met each other. Now four years later they have become husband and wife.

The morning of Michelle and Scott’s rose garden wedding day wasn’t looking good with heavy rain falling. Then just before the ceremony the storm clouds parted leaving them with a beautiful afternoon to say thier “I do’s”.

Standing in front of a circular arbor adorned with fresh white roses and using the lush green of the Bathurst hills as their backdrop, the BoxGrove rose garden was the perfect setting for Michelle and Scott’s elegant country-themed wedding.

After a stunning photoshoot around the grounds of BoxGrove with talented photographer Matthew Harper, the couple celebrated with family and friends in the BoxGrove reception barn. This purpose-built barn was the perfect location for Michelle and Scott’s elegant country-themed wedding with the balance of modern meets rustic and with views over the surrounding countryside from the large balcony. A perfect way for Michelle and Scott to celebrate the start of thier life as newlyweds.

Your Look

The dress that I wore was not what I had in mind when I went looking for my wedding dress, I have been told this is more often how it goes!
My dress had lace with a light tulle overlay, it an a-line fit and plunged at the bust. I had tried on quite a few dresses and when I put mine on I instantly knew it was my dress!

Your Spouse’s Look

If it was up to Scott he would have worn footy shorts and a singlet so we settled with moleskins, boots, a white shirt, a dark blue jacket, and of course an RM Williams belt. To distinguish Scott from the groomsmen he wore a bowtie and suspenders. We settled for buttonholes over ties, we thought the boys would be more comfortable without a tie considering we were married in January.

The Groomsman wore the same as Scott and the bridesmaids wore a light sage dress, that was a design that was said to be “soooo Michelle”!

The Theme or Wedding Decor

The look that Scott and I chose was more of a country-themed wedding, with elegance though. Scott and I are both country people and live in our cowboy boots and enjoy nothing more than attending a country concert, going to races, and of course fishing and camping. Our home has been described by family and friends as “country Hamptons” and I think our wedding reflected this. BoxGrove is a venue that has a barn, but it is the most beautiful barn you would ever see! Our ceremony was outside in their rose garden with paddocks behind us. Our photos were taken in paddocks and some cattle/sheep yards which was us all over.

We had timber centerpieces cut from a tree by my Dad, with candles, jars with fairy lights and milk bottles with white flowers, white table runners, and olive foliage. The bouquets and the rest of the colours for the wedding were all light pastels to tie in with the light sage bridesmaid dresses. The table placements were wooden cutouts of each guest’s individual names, which tied in with the centerpieces and our wooden cake topper.

We were lucky enough to have a sister in law that is a baker. She made our wedding cake which was also our dessert, the cake topper was fishing inspired, Scott is an avid fisherman! She makes the best macarons that you would ever eat, and our seating chart made by Scott, consisted of macarons with each guests name painted on an individual macaron with the title “Take a treat and find your seat”. I loved the seating chart, not only because it was so unique but also because it had a lovely family connection.

Our wedding car was very special to Michelle’s family. It was her Dad’s FJ Holden that he purchased as a teenager and has kept in pristine condition ever since!

The Ceremony

Our ceremony was very unique to us. We wrote our own vows and we had Michelle’s Nan do a bible reading (as she was hoping the ceremony would be in a church!). Michelle’s Pa had recently passed away and he was mentioned in the ceremony which was special for Nan and Michelle’s family. Instead of having our maid of honour and best man as our witnesses we had our mother’s, we surprised them with this and thought it was a nice way to include them.

The Importance Of A Good Celebrant

It is very important to have a good celebrant, to have someone to help you with the finer details, offer suggestions and take care of the legal side of things.

Tanya has a wonderful relationship with our photographer and she knew when to step aside so he could capture specific photos. Tanya made everything so easy and was so organised and as an organised person I loved having someone like-minded to complete our ceremony.

Scott and I absolutely love dancing! So as soon as we could we were on the dancefloor!

Your Wedding Day Advice

You cannot control the weather so try not to stress about it. On our wedding day it bucketed rain all morning until around 2pm, our wedding was at 3.30pm so it cleared up just in time to be a cracker of a day!

Unexpected Hiccups

If I did, no one told me about it 🙂
